Product Description

What is a Doidy Cup?

A Doidy Cup is a slanted cup scientifically designed to encourage babies to drink from a rim rather than a spout. It has a unique slant which enables babies to drink easily from it as they can see the contents within the cup. It has 2 handles on the side for easy holding. Breast fed babies from 3 months or earlier and bottle fed babies of 6 months or earlier can be introduced to a Doidy Cup

The Doidy Cup is made in the UK from food safe materials and is BPA free. It can be sterilized, is dishwasher proof (top shelf) and freezer proof. It is also recyclable!

Young infants love using the Doidy Cup because;

  • the contents are visible to them
  • due to the sloping design, there is no forward or downward movement of the head
  • they do not have to tip the cup up as they can see the contents when drinking
  • teaches them to drink from an open cup and also to put it down correctly
  • they will not overfeed, the baby sets the pace and quantity

Mouth action using the Doidy Cup

  • Drinking from the Doidy cup encourages good oral movements and helps to develop chewing skills as the jaw, tongue and mouth muscles are used
  • Infants find this movement perfectly natural, therefore it is easy to introduce a Doidy cup to bottle and breast-fed babies.
  • In fact, when you use a Doidy Cup, there is no need to ever introduce a bottle!

Health Professionals promote the use of a Doidy Cup to help prevent;

  • Premature tooth decay
  • Poor feeding techniques
  • Speech problems
  • Anaemia
  • Malnutrition
  • Failure to thrive
  • Food refusal

The COMA Weaning Report of 1994 clearly recommends that:

“Infants from the age of 6 months should be introduced to a cup and the use of a bottle should be actively discouraged after the age of 1 year to prevent long-term health problems.”

The Community Nutrition Group of the British Diatetic Association briefing states:

“It is a natural developmental progression that sipping and swallowing replace sucking and hence feeding from a cup should begin around 6 months. This may seem messy and less ‘convenient’ initially, but it is a very important skill to develop.”

Doidy is a registered trademark of Bickiepegs UK.

    Our cup arrived today, and all I can say is Yippeeee! ! Dinner time tonight for the first time in forever I didn’t have to clean up spilt water from my 2 yr old. She loves it, such a fabulous invention with the angled side to almost completely stop all spilling, so glad we got to try it out. First impression was I thought it was going to fall over when I filled it up but it holds drinks perfectly and is super easy for Piper to drink out of and hold comfortably, great size for tiny hands. Only problem is my 3 yr old is upset she doesn’t have a cool pink cup too….feel I may have to buy one. Thanks for the chance to try this out 🙂

    I’m so glad I was one of the lucky 5 chosen to review this cup.
    Arya (17 months) was watching eagerly as I took it from the packet and as I was reading the pamphlet that came with it, sneaky little hands were reaching to the table and grabbing it and running to the sink “more” she said and pointed at the tap…..her way of asking for water.
    I gave it a wash and pt some water in it and she was away. Because the shape of the cup is so different to anything else she is able to drink from it quite naturally and not a drop was spilled, quite miraculous!!!
    I wish I had it about 6+ months ago…..would have completely by-passed the whole sippy cup stage.
    10 out of 10!!! 🙂

    We have these cups for our 10 month twins and have been using them for a few months now. They are great and, although initially we had to help hold the cup to stop them pouring water straight down their fronts, they can now drink independently without spilling too much which is fantastic. We just have to make sure we move the cups out of reach when they have finished drinking or things get a bit messy as they do enjoy turning them upside down or tipping them over.

    Delivery was quick and I was really impressed with the customer service. Jackie provided fantastic advice about how to get started with the cups which was really useful. Thank you.
